Bar Grating can meet almost any load bearing or weight requirement and is the most durable grating for rugged applications. Bar grating is a top choice for strength, safety, and long-term cost.

Bar Grating consists of a series of bearing bars welded (or otherwise joined) at various intervals to perpendicular cross bars to form a load-bearing panel. Panels are manufactured by welding, locked by swaging, or press-locked processes. A typical panel configuration has bearing bars that are spaced 1-3/ 16 inches (center to center) with perpendicular cross bars spaced 4 inches apart (center to center). Other spacings are available to meet your loading and open area requirements.

Bar Grating is available in a wide selection of panel sizes; bar sizes and spacings; bar shapes; and material types. The most popular style is Welded Bar Grating.

Welded Bar Grating can meet almost every requirement and is probably the best grating or flooring application choice for strength, safety, and long-term cost. Welded Bar Grating has a rectangular-shaped bearing bar which is available in a variety of thicknesses, heights, and spacings.

The GW and SGW Series bearing bars range from 1/8 to 3/16 inches thick, with bar heights ranging from 3/4 to 2-1/2 inches. GW Welded Series Grating is our most popular style with standard bearing bar centers of 1-3/16 inch. SGW Welded Series Grating has bearing bar centers that are 15/16 inch apart, tighter than the GW Series, which means there is less open area. SGW Series gratings are also very versatile and will handle heavier moderate loads than the GW Series. For heavier load requirements, selections include the GHB Series with a bearing bar thickness of 1/4 inch and bar heights from 1 to 3 inches.

GW Welded Series Grating(19-W-4, 19-W-2) is our most popular style of the Rectangular Welded Bar Series with standard bearing bar centers of 1-3/16 inch. Standard cross rods are on 4 inch centers and are also available with 2 inch centers. GW Series grating is very versatile and will handle most moderate loads and light wheel traffic. Select from many bearing bar heights and material types with optional serrated surfaces that are slip resistant.

SGW Series.gifSGW Welded Series Grating(15-W-4, 15-W-2) has bearing bar centers that are 15/16 inch apart, tighter than the GW Series, which means there is less open area. This grating series is also very versatile and will handle heavier moderate loads than the GW Series. Select from severalbearing bar heights and material types with optional serrated surfaces that are slipresistant.

The rectangular bars of the GHB Series Grating are 1/4 inch thick making it ideal for heavy rolling applications such as bridge floor, highways, airport runways or other high-load trench applications. Grating is available in

plain steel, powder-coated black, or galvanized in a variety of bar heights.

The strength of pressure-locked bar grating is dependent on the spacing between each bar, the depth and thickness of bearing bars. Press-locked bar gratings are available in similar spacings as standard welded type gratings. Standard bearing bar center space can be 1-3/16",  15/16", 13/16", 11/16", 5/8", 1/2", 7/16". Standard cross bars are with 4 inch centers and also available with 2 inch centers.

19-P-4 is the most popular one with 1-3/16" space between bearing bar center to center and 4" between cross bar center to center.

Castable Bar Grating is a grid of hexagonal shaped plain or stainless steel “shells” that act as castables, generally for cement or castable insulation used in petroleum refining. It is used as a lining reinforcement structure for vessels, refractory applications, or concrete flooring. Gridsteel prevents slump,

corrosion, controls cracking, blistering, and therefore lengthens the life of the supported structure. It also acts as a floor armor on concrete floors that receive high impact industrial traffic. It is available from stock in plain or stainless steel in a “clinched” construction, 3/4 inch bar height/depth in 3 x 10 foot panels, other sizes available by special order.

Grating that is locked by “swaging” is manufactured using an exclusive swaging and forming process which prevents the cross bars from turning or twisting. This process provides a high strength-to-weight ratio, minimum deflection and installation ease with maximum safety. Panels are available in rectangular- bar, I-bar and T-bar styles in a variety of bar heights, spacings and materials. Grating is also available in a “flush top” configuration – Rectangular Bar SFT Series.

Rectangular Bar Series.gifRectangular Swaged Bar Grating is an economical solution for applications requiring high strength and rigidity. Our GAL Series is lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum panels, stocked in a wide variety of bearing bar heights and spacings. The most popular bearing bar width is 3/16 inch wide, 1-3/16 inch centers and swaged cross bars on 4 inch centers. Bearing bars are generally smooth with an option for serrated bars. The SFT Series option comes with a flat top surface–the cross bars are at the top of the panel and are flat and smooth. If your requirement is stainless, we offer the SGSS Series.

I-Bar Series.gifI Bar GIA Series Grating has “I”-shaped bearing bars that are locked in place by swaging the cross bars, making this grating series an economical solution for applications requiring high strength and rigidity and ideal for light pedestrian traffic. Made of aluminum, it is also lightweight and corrosion resistant. Stock options include four bearing bar height options. The I-Bar grooved surface helps improve slip resistance. The standard panel size is 3 x 24 foot. Other sizes are available by special order.

T-Bar Series.gifT-Bar Series Grating is configured with an extruded T- shaped bearing bar and an extruded cross bar – locked together by swaging for a high strength and rigid construction. The large T-bar surface makes it ideal for pedestrian traffic and an optional choice to Close Mesh Grating.
Duke's Grating is commonly used for entrance ramps, treads and walkway entrance grates. Made of aluminum, it is long lasting and corrosion resistant. Available from stock in three bearing bar heights, others by special order.
